One neat trick that you can use to take your photos to the next level is to have a blend of static and moving objects in the same frame. Doing so works particularly well with street photos. What makes the photos stand out is the overall dynamics in the frame. While the stationary subject has one level of energy, the moving object is representative of an entirely different energy state. Take for instance the following image that was shot by a Reddit user bennet99:

The photographer shot the image using a Sony A7RII and Sony 50mm f/1.8 lens in Hamburg, Germany. To get this shot, he used a slightly slower shutter speed and took a burst of photos hoping at least one would go through the windows.
What’s really interesting is the way the subject appears to look directly toward the camera through the train windows. You can really consider the photographer to be lucky in this regard. However, the credit goes to the photographer for his thorough planning. The subject is in fact the photographer’s friend with whom the photographer coordinated through phone calls and crazy hand waving from the other end of the platform.
While the moving train adds depth and dynamism to the image, the static look on the subject’s face takes the intensity to the next level. The intense look on the man’s face gives a feeling that he’s trying to tell a lot. One could even say that he has a lot of questions in his head. And luckily that the question mark behind his head resembles his expression. In fact, the question mark is truly poetic with his expression. A stunning shot indeed!
