Things are not always the way they appear to be at first glance. This notion stands especially true if you get an opportunity to give something a closer look the second time. This is one of the core reasons why macro photography is so fascinating. We realize we’re missing out on all the intricacies when we get close to something. Take for instance the following image shot by Reddit user CodeSamurai. Have you ever noticed this level of detail on your pup’s nose?

“I had no idea that dog’s noses were so intricate! I set up this shot so that the light made the spaces between the cells more prominent.”
While one might guess that the photographer used some sort of macro lens to take this photo, it’s interesting to know that he shot it using the ultra-wide lens on his iPhone. Thanks to the short focusing distance of the lens, it’s fantastic how the phone camera can do some great macro photography when the conditions are just right.
You won’t be the only one if the image reminds you of the Shattered Plains. After all, there’s a lot of resemblance between the two, albeit at a much smaller scale. This image is yet another reminder of how we can find beauty in strange things. Wonderful shot!
And in case you’re wondering how the photographer managed to get the pup to stay still, here’s the answer to it straight from the photographer.
“I said one of her favorite words: “Do?” which is short for “Do you want to go for a walk?”. When I say that, she goes perfectly still and waits for the rest of the sentence. We of course went for a walk right after I got the shot.”
