You don’t always have to walk miles and climb heights to get amazing landscape shots. Sometimes the best locations are just a few steps away—if you know where to look. Photographer Morgan Tuohy captured this image in Utah just by hopping out of his car on his way home:
The image is a composite of different exposures for the foreground and background. Tuohy shot the image on his Sony A7III with a 16–35 GM lens. The foreground was shot during the blue hour at 22mm, f/11, ISO 100, 20 seconds. He exposed for the sky a while later from a similar place at 22mm, f/5, ISO 640, 20 seconds.
Parriott Mesa, standing tall at a distance with snow all around it, is a spectacular scene on its own. What makes the image even more exciting is Tuohy’s decision to add in the night sky.
