When it comes to long exposure photography, light trails make the image appear a whole lot more interesting. A continuous streak of light is something that we can’t see naturally. This is a strong reason why long exposure photographs appear surreal. Combine long exposure with a good sense of composition and lighting, and you’ll get an amazing result. Photographer Ryan Mcpherson had a combination of both for the following image that he took in Arizona:
The image is a 30 second exposure that Mcpherson took with his Nikon D850 at f/16, ISO 800, and 15mm focal length. It’s evident that he has invested some time in scouting the location. The beautiful curvature of the road has allowed him to capture a light trail that is very pleasing to the eye. And since the image was taken around sunset, that has added some golden glow near the horizon.
