PictureCorrect.com: Interesting Photo of the Day: Heart of the Tree

It’s like staring at the Tree of the Dead from the gothic movie Sleepy Hollow. Except the perspective is almost from the inside of the tree—and it’s full of life. This image by wilderness photographer Marc Adamus is a stunning example of how life can survive in some of the most barren places on the face of the Earth:

This Bristlecone Pine is one of the three specimens found in nature. They represent some of the oldest living things on Earth. Growing at an altitude of 12,000 feet, they’re some of the largest specimens that Adamus has ever encountered. The trunk of the tree in the photograph is 25 feet wide!
