PictureCorrect.com: Interesting Photo of the Day: Melting Sunset

Nature can sometimes be very strange. Oftentimes, one’s surroundings can appear scary but still manage to sweep you off your feet with their beauty. Take for instance the following image captured by photographer Ben Strauss at Mount Evans, Colorado. The beauty in it is of a “different kind,” but nevertheless, it surely is very interesting to look at:

The image is a single exposure that Strauss shot at 10mm, f/16, 1/8s, and ISO 100. He’s done an excellent job in capturing a breathtaking scene with an effective composition. The rocks in the foreground appear really fascinating. The setting sun has added a golden glow, giving them a fiery look. In the midground, we have the beautiful and majestic Rockies mountain range. But surprisingly, the mountains are the least interesting element in this image. And on the background is another highlight of the image—the fiery sky with some eerie cloud formation.

“My wife and I were so lucky to have experienced this together on top of Mount Evans, looking out over the Rockies.”

To be honest, the image appears scary, yet beautiful at the same time. The blue patch of sky in the middle is the only portion of the image that seems regular. Everything else strikes us as apocalyptic.

Hats off to the photographer for capturing this unique image! Do you find this image beautiful, or does it scare you? Let us know in the comments.
