The “shepherd” family of dogs are not just beautiful—they’re also extremely energetic. They can tire us humans out without even breaking a sweat. This playful old German Shepherd belongs to photographer Samuel Cauldron, and you can feel the energy this good boy has just by looking at this image:

Cauldron took the image with a FujiFilm X100V while his dog was busy playing in the mud. The splashes emerging from the pool of mud make for a good indication of how busy the dog has been.
A very interesting thing about the dog is its fur coat. While most of use are used to seeing German Shepherds with a brown coat, the dense black coat in this one gives him a wilder look. You could be forgiven for mistaking this doggy for a dangerous wolf.
The eyes, on the other hand, are totally the opposite. Their amber color is far from frightening. And, of course, that ball in the dog’s mouth assures us he’s a completely friendly animal. This subtly highlights the playful nature of the dog that we are familiar with. The way this image exhibits both sides of the dog’s personality is really interesting.
