PictureCorrect.com: 8 Handy Landscape Photography Camera Hacks

Photography hacks can be lifesavers in situations where you find yourself ill-equipped, or just when you need something unique to spark some energy in your photos. And the best part? You don’t need to break the bank. Today, we have professional landscape photographer Mark Denney covering eight camera hacks specifically geared to landscape photography. All these hacks are pretty simple, but the effect they have on your results can be quite drastic. Let’s check them out:

The hacks Denney shares in this video can come in handy and help improve your landscape photos. These tips are simple to execute and you can instantly see the impact they have on your landscape photography.

Denney starts off by sharing a couple tripod-related hacks. He shows how you can drastically improve the stability of your tripod using a $2 add-on, and also how you can improve the life of your tripod when working around water.

And speaking of water, don’t you just hate it when you’re working and the rain decides to show up? As Denney shares in the video, cheap shower caps can be very effective to temporarily keep your camera safe.

You might love using polarizing filters around water to cut the reflections, right? But have you tried using polarizing filters in other conditions—for instance, when shooting woodlands? As you can see in the video, it’s not only around water that we have reflections. By using a polarizer filter every time, you can see how big of a difference it can make by getting rid of reflections from leaves and by adding a certain pop to the colors. And while we’re talking filters, Denney also shares a technique called “dragging the shutter,” which you can use to simulate the effect of an ND filter even when you don’t have one with you. Be sure to try it out.

Denney also shows you how you can make your images stand out with simple techniques. He takes you through the vertical telephoto panorama technique, and also shows you how you can easily create a sunstar. These techniques will certainly add a wow factor to your images.

Which is your favorite landscape photography hack from the bunch? Be sure to try out a few of them when you’re out to take some photos.
