If you set out on a hike high up in the Dolomite Mountains in Italy, you’re bound to come across some incredibly stunning, breathtaking scenery. Here, landscape and adventure photographer Max Rive captures the Church of St. Johann in Ranui just as the leaves were changing. The church is set in a meadow that can only be reached by foot. Hiking at this special time of year, Rive was able to capture dramatic clouds which created a moody sky against the mountains and vibrant colors of fall:

Rive prefers to hike to locations that are a little harder to get to, where nature remains virtually untouched and uninterrupted. His images span amazing landscapes and mountaintops the world over, always with a unique perspective. This image of St. Johann is just one example of his never-ending drive to photograph remote landscapes.
