Snowy conditions can be grueling. But when you’re living in the wild, you’ve got to do whatever it takes to survive. While we’d love to stay indoors in the comfort of our warm homes, the same can’t be said for the birds and other animals. When photographer Raymond McCarthy Bergeron was out in Arches National Park, he got caught in a wet and heavy snowfall. But the weather conditions didn’t stop the birds from feasting on the seeds off the bushes:
Bergeron took the image with a Canon 6D and Sigma 150-600mm lens at 600mm, 1/1000s, f/7.1, and ISO 400. It’s fantastic how he has managed to freeze the action and capture some beautiful details on the bird.
Besides the action that’s going on, the color palette in this image is its hero feature. Everything blends in so well and gives the perfect mood to this image. The blue and white tones are a perfect representation of the cold conditions during which the image was shot.
