If you’ve been wondering how to photograph splashing water, look no further. Here is a rather straightforward video tutorial that demonstrates how one photographer, Clint Decker, is capturing some great shots right in his own kitchen. The trickiest part of capturing these images might be getting the timing correct on when to fire the trigger, but that’s nothing a continuous shutter can’t help with. Take a peek at his process and then give this interesting genre of photography a try for yourself:
Equipment List
- Canon 5D Mark II
- Canon 70-200mm f2.8 L IS USM
- Canon RC1 IR Trigger
- 2 Canon 580ex II Speedlights
- 2 Canon 430ex II Speedlights
- Lilliput HDMI Monitor
- Wireless flash triggers on all speedlights
If you do try this at home, remember to place clear plastic bags over your speedlights like Decker has done. This will protect them from potential water damage. Also, this is a messy project so choose your location wisely.
