On July 1, 2013, at 11:41 p.m., India’s space agency launched the 19 million dollar (US) IRNSS-1A from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in southeast India. It was a fairly momentous occasion, as the photograph below shows:
The orbital satellite is as a sort of GPS tracker for the Indian subcontinent and has since proven successful—space agencies around the world have been receiving its signals.
