PictureCorrect.com: Lighthouse Photography Techniques with a Drone

In recent years, the use of drones for photo and video work has risen exponentially. This has not only given audiences new perspectives, but also opens up opportunities to for photographers to work in areas that were previously beyond reach. But with a sensor that tiny, are the results decent? Photographer Glyn Dewis went out for an entire photoshoot using just his DJI Air 2, and shares his experience in this video:

Dewis was able to use a drone to give him access to a shot that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. In fact, using a drone was like using a proper camera on wings, as he was able to bracket his shots for a detailed HDR image as well.

Convenience aside, Dewis also gives a peek at the files’ flexibility when working with them in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. And as you can clearly see in the video, the images pack everything you expect from a proper camera.

“You can see straight away that the quality is definitely there; sharpness, contrast, details, textures are very, very acceptable.”

Further into the video, Dewsi shows us his editing process for the photos he took using the drone. And as you can see, working with the files feels no different from photos taken with a bigger camera. Technology sure has come a long way.

If you’re planning to invest in a drone for your photo or video work, definitely watch the video above. If you have any doubt about a drone’s capability, chances are you will come away convinced.
