PictureCorrect.com: Interesting Photo of the Day: Tokyo Zoom Burst

Long exposure photography has to be one of the most exciting things you can try with your camera. It opens up a window of opportunity to express your creativity and see the world in a whole new way. The best part is that you can captures images that we cannot otherwise see with our eyes. Take for instance the following image shot by a photographer who goes by the name of TokyoScape. The techniques he’s used when taking this image take reality to the next level:

long exposure in Tokyo

“Zoom Burst at Shinjuku, Tokyo” by TokyoScape (Via Reddit. Click image to see full size.)

The image is a nine-second exposure of a building in Shinjuku, Tokyo, that he took at ISO 100 and f/16. But, wait, that’s not all—he also added a zoom burst during the last three seconds, adding some extra zing to the result.

The light trails in the foreground do an excellent job of drawing us into the subject—which, to be honest, appears messy at first. However, thanks to the zoom-burst effect, the light beams that seem to be piercing out of the building keep us wondering and force us to stop and think. Are those lasers? Was there an explosion of some kind? Is it a comic-style illustration?

The shape of the building in the center is another very interesting aspect of this image. Many have pointed out how much it resembles a Playstation 5. And aside from the unique shape, the way it contrasts the surroundings is also stunningly original. Creative architecture meets creative photography: what do you think?
