Taking a risk has a better chance of paying greater dividends. This saying is also applicable to some extent in the field of photography, as it allows a photographer to capture moments in time which are unseen by many. Fine art landscape and architecture photographer Felix Inden decided to take a risk and shoot the following photograph of the Faroe Islands:

The photograph projects a calm sensation, but according to Inden, the conditions were far from what he’d call calm. He says that the shoot was intense. He wasn’t even sure whether it would make sense to hike up to the viewpoint to take this shot, as there was almost no light left due to stormy conditions. However, believing that everything makes sense, he decided to do it and got this shot with his Nikon D850 and Tamron 100–400. He also mentions that this was the scariest moment of his life as a photographer; while composing this shot from a ridge, he had a 100 foot drop in front of him and gale force winds behind him. Now that’s really scary!

How far are you willing to risk it to take a photograph?
