Most of us are not professional photographers, but that doesn’t stop us from going out and taking photos. Yet when something is just a hobby, and not earning you money, it can be hard to find the time. So how do we go about it? Photographer Ted Forbes talks about this challenge, and shares other photographers’ experiences, in today’s insightful video.
Non-professional photographers usually have day jobs that takes up most of their time. This can leave you with very little, if any, time for photography. But this should not mean that your photography days are over.
When describing the works of one of his followers in the video, you can see how he managed to publish a photo book by taking photos during his lunch break. Talk about dedication! And some might worry too much about not being able to take photos due to having a job. But it is actually the worrying that takes up most of the time.
“It can be exasperating when you’re not doing what you love. Positivity is absolutely essential to those times.”
Things like time management, scheduling and planning therefore becomes essential for anyone trying to keep their love of photography alive while being occupied with a full time job. See if you can fit photography in your schedule in the morning or evening hours. Even if you can do it during your commute or break hours, that’s a good start. If time allows, you can dedicate a bigger chunk of your weekends solely to photography.
For most of us, photography is not just a hobby or an interest. It gives us a peace of mind and is essential for our mental well-being. If you fall in this group, make an active effort to make photography a part of your life. Believe it or not, you will find time for it.
