Back in 2009, we witnessed a unique solar eclipse—this one happened to be the longest solar eclipse of the 21st century. The eclipse lasted six minutes and 39 seconds and that time won’t be beat again until 2132. An international Total Solar Eclipse Expedition party was on site on Enewetak Atoll in the Marshall Islands and took some really incredible photos, like this one that shows a detailed view of the solar corona:

This is just one image taken by Miloslav Druckmuller, Peter Aniol, Martin Dietzel, and Vojtech Rusin. It is actually comprised of 80 images taken from that day, including a shot of the full moon. The solar corona looks like a painting in the sky—just phenomenal.
