Have you ever wondered what the process is behind classic film? How does exposing light to a thin slice of coated silver bromide create replicas of what’s in front of the lens, and how did digital technology mimic that? For all those answers and a head-spinning amount more, check out this quick 10-minute video lecture on the science behind camera sensors:

The video is swiftly hosted by John Hess at Filmmaker IQ. We’d try to summarize any of it here, but Hess is basically condensing a large, dense textbook into a 10-minute lecture, so it’s probably best if you just watch it.
