Salzburg is built into a nearly vertical cliff, which parallels the Salzach River. My friends and I followed a small staircase off the beaten path, which led us down to a ledge with a perfect view of Hohensalzburg Castle. 30 feet below us, a group of college students drunkenly hazed their friend, who was wearing a skirt.
