With his mastery of manipulating Turkish landscapes, photographer Aydın Buyuktaş has created a whole new way to view Istanbul. While stunning in itself, this captivating photo is actually part of an entire series of pieces for the exhibition Flatland/Duzulke. The series contains a variety of photographs capturing bazaars, bridges, canals, skate parks, and more. With the aid of a drone and photo editing software, Buyuktaş dramatically stitched together the spliced images and took the concept of “creating a space within a space” to an entirely new level:

Buyuktaş’s series was inspired by the book Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions by Edwin Abbott. He used a drone to capture a surreal photo set featuring different angles of some of the most iconic places in Istanbul, including the Grand Bazaar, Kadikoy Tuesday Market, Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, and more. His overall goal for his series was to provide the observer with a “multidimensional romantic point of view.”
