PictureCorrect.com: Interesting Photo of the Day: Sun Rays in the Morning

Sunrise is always a beautiful moment to witness in person. Add a little drama to that moment with some fog or mist and the experience becomes something to remember. Photographer Tomas van der Weijden was in the fens in the Netherlands when he took the following breath-taking image:

Weijden took the image with his Sony A7RIII at 35mm, f/20, 1/15s, and ISO 100.

The sun rays breaking through the trees and into the mist is the real hero in this scene. It gives such a calm and soothing feeling to the entire image. Realizing this, Weijden tried to include more of the sun rays by moving in close, but there was a problem.

“I tried to make my way to get closer to the sun rays in the background, but with my feet already wet and freezing cold, this was about as close I could get without getting sucked into the bogs too deep.”

With the very soft lighting making the edges of the yellow grasses glow, the little green tree in the foreground appears quite interesting. Besides the blue sky in a small part of background, the little tree has the only color to stand out from the dry grasses. Pretty neat composition by the photographer.
