If you’ve ever been to Dead Horse Point State Park, you’ll understand why it’s home to some of Utah’s most spectacular landscapes. The view from Dead Horse Point is something you’ll always remember. In fact, it’s one of the most photographed vistas in the world. Towering some 2,000 feet above the Colorado River, the overlook provides a breathtaking panorama of Canyonlands’ sculpted pinnacles and buttes. But if you’re finding it difficult to imagine all this, have a look at the following image taken by photographer Shane Ware and you’ll see what the fuss is all about:

The first thing you’ll notice is the amount of detail captured. The photographer was able to accomplish this by stacking three images focused on the foreground, mid-ground and background atop one another.
Technicalities aside, the image is visually appealing in its own right. You can appreciate the setting sun and scattered clouds as different sections of a landscape unevenly lit. This adds to the contrast and emphasizes the textures on the beautiful landscape.
And how can we not talk about a hero of the image, the bristlecone pine tree in the foreground? It’s mesmerizing how the windswept tree mimics the bend of the Colorado river. And the way the setting sun adds a subtle glow to the leaves is awe-inspiring. We just love the fact that the beautiful sky and the tree give a final touch to the image.
