PictureCorrect.com: Interesting Photo of the Day: Perfectly Lit Abandoned House

Taking photographs in the dark is a challenge in itself. However, if you are creative enough, the same challenge can be taken as a beautiful opportunity. When using the light painting technique to take photos in the dark, it’s like the scene in front of you is a blank canvas you can paint on. In the following image, photographer Jack Loughran did something quite interesting in the genre: he used a drone for light painting purpose, and the result is just spectacular.

The image is a 20-second exposure that Loughran shot on a Nikon D750 with a 20mm lens at f/6.3 and ISO 100. But the most interesting aspect of this image is how he lit the house. While it’s tough to imagine him lighting an entire house using a continuous light from that height, he actually did it. He achieved the lighting on the house using two Lumecubes mounted on a drone. How cool is that?

The haze and the colors of the ambient light complement the image very well and give a perfect spooky feeling. Also, the different levels of lighting that we can see on the image are quite satisfying. They add a sense of depth to the image and add to the mood.

It’s fair to say that Loughran didn’t just take an image here; he created a work of art.
