Every second matters when you’re out in the wild. When the moment presents itself, you don’t want to be fiddling around with your gear. This is why it’s vital that you understand your setup inside out. And like your camera, it’s equally important that you understand the location you’re shooting in and the animals that are found there. Having a good understanding of the wildlife makes it easier for you to predict what you’ll be up to.
Photographing wildlife doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t mix in some landscape photos. Right before sunrise and sunset, the warm light perfectly sets the scene with its golden touch. This makes landscapes appear magical. Also, during these hours the animals prepare to start and end the day respectively. This provides you with an opportunity to take some unique shots.
And as Stols clearly explains, patience is something that tops the chart if you really want to take some amazing wildlife photos. You really need to have patience and wait for the right moment.
